What to Expect

What to Expect During and After the NeoGraft® Hair Transplant Procedure:

The NeoGraft® hair transplant procedure has two main components: The first involves the harvesting of the hair follicles, and the second involves their placement into the balding or thinning areas. Let’s examine both sides of how NeoGraft® works in hair restoration:

Harvesting: This part of the procedure requires you to lie face down for approximately two to four hours. During this time, the doctor will use a local anesthetic on the back of your scalp (the “donor site”), and the individual follicular groupings are extracted from that area using our state-of-the-art Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) device.

After the follicles are extracted, you are free to go to the restroom, get something to eat, or relax prior to the placement portion of the procedure beginning.

Placement: The stage where patients get their own natural hair back in their balding areas! Patients are positioned according to the area they desire to receive hair restoration. The extracted follicles will then be placed in that area in the natural-looking pattern that you and Dr. Imola determined during the consultation. The timing on this part varies depending on your goals and the amount of hair that needs to be replaced. Just like before, you are able to talk with those around you, check out Facebook, or listen to music – whatever helps to pass the time! (“Procedure Details”)

The Recovery Process: People are genuinely concerned about the length of downtime after a traditional hair transplant surgery. With NeoGraft®, patients typically resume normal activities within just a few days. After 7-10 days, the transplanted hair will be safely rooted under the scalp and your hair will have grown back enough to cover the donor site! From there on out, it will be virtually undetectable at the donor site that the NeoGraft® procedure was ever done. Patients regularly say that during the recovery and the process itself, they feel little to no pain.

Some patients do not care if other people know about their procedure, while others do not want anyone to know. However, after about nine months following the procedure everyone will readily notice how much more hair the patient has overall. But, for those patients who want to keep their procedure private, it’s recommended that no work or social interaction take place for about 10-14 days. This amount of time should allow for the patient to return to normal in terms of looks. However, if the patient doesn’t mind a few strange looks, then they can easily return to their normal lifestyle and work just 2-3 days following the procedure. In any case, it will take about nine months later to see the full results of surgery.

When individuals decide to get a hair replacement, they generally want the results to quickly show, but also want to know that they’re permanent. For anyone choosing a NeoGraft® hair transplant, they can anticipate a future with a full head of hair. The first step is to create a specific treatment plan with your doctor in order to ensure your chances of success.
